Lawrence “Larry” A. Roy, 83 of Marlborough died on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Marlborough Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born in Attleboro, MA, the son of the late Joseph G. and Susan E. (Bushor) Roy. He was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1956.
After graduating, Larry served in the U.S. Air Force as a Systems Mechanic from 1956 - 1960. Although he was stationed on many bases during his service, he particularly enjoyed his time living in Okinawa, Japan.
Larry was employed by Cabot Corporation in Billerica, Massachusetts as a Research Technician for several decades. After leaving Cabot, he worked for several years as a Technician at Evergreen Solar in Marlborough, Massachusetts, before finally retiring in 2010.
While working full-time at Cabot, Larry went to school for many years at night in Boston to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern.
As an avid outdoorsman, Larry loved to fish and hunt in New England and Canada. He was very active in O.A.R. (Organization for the Assabet River), Conservation Commission, Middlesex County League and many other environmental organizations. He also was a proud member of the Marlboro Fish & Game Association. Larry put his heart and soul into the environment.
Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Stotz) Roy of Marlborough, a son Robert Roy and his wife Karin Whitten of Shrewsbury; his daughter, Cathy Ferrante and her husband Sandro of Raynham; and many grandchildren, Jordyn, Haley, Jacob, Alex, Jesse and Michael.
He was predeceased by a son, Joseph “Joey” Roy in January 2021 and his sister, Suzanne Soper.
Following cremation, a Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 25, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough, MA.
