Theresa "Gi" Catherine (MacKinnon) Sutherland

Theresa C. “Gi” (MacKinnon) Sutherland of Marlborough passed on Thursday, July 6, 2023 peacefully at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. 

Born in Nova Scotia Canada, she was the daughter of the late D. Douglas and Mary (Campbell) MacKinnon.  Terry graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Waltham.  She worked her way up at Shaws becoming a Customer Service Representative and friend and colleague to many.  She worked for Shaws for 38 years, retiring 2 years ago.  Terry was the beloved wife of Joseph “Joe” Sutherland for 38 years, who predeceased Terry in 2019.

Terry is survived by her son James “Jimmy” Poirier and his wife Tara of Marlborough and their two children Brendan and Madison.  She is also survived by her brother Gilbert E. MacKinnon and his wife Joanne.

Terry moved to Marlborough 12 years ago to be closer to her son, Jimmy and his family.  Family meant everything to Terry.  She loved spending time with her grandkids, Brendan and Madison, the dogs, spending time at the beach with her son and friends and going to the casino.  She just liked to be around people.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. in the Short and Rowe Funeral Home, 95 West Main St. Marlborough, MA.
