Robert “Bobby” William Mitchell, Jr., 63 of Rumford Maine and formerly of Southborough and Marlborough, MA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 25, 2021. He was the son of the late Robert W. Mitchell, Sr. and Virginia (Varley) Mitchell of East Falmouth, Massachusetts.
He graduated from Assabet Valley Regional Vocational High School, Class of 1979. He studied food trades. He was employed by Tobin Vending Company, for Digital in Marlborough and for the Sheraton Tara Hotel in Framingham for many years.
Bobby loved the outdoors and would hike in the woods; he spent many summers at Hampton Beach and Cape Cod. He was an avid sports fan and attended many high school football games. He loved to discuss history and politics. Although, he was unable to serve his country, he had a deep respect for those who did. He loved watching World War II films.
Bobby had a deep and abiding faith; he would often help those in need preparing to feed those at food kitchens or teaching bible studies classes. He had a big and forgiving heart. He will be missed!
He is survived by his mother, Virginia; sister Valerie (Mitchell) Spruill and husband Mark of Southborough; Joseph V. Mitchell, Sr. and wife Kim of East Falmouth, MA; niece Andrea Mitchell of Clinton and nephew Joseph R. Mitchell of Charlton, MA. He is predeceased by his nephew Joseph V. Mitchell, Jr. of East Falmouth.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on, Friday, December 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect Street, Marlboro, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
The Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlboro is in care of the arrangements.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church or Praise Assembly of God, Rumford, Maine.
