Richard Paul Insani, 81, of West Yarmouth and formerly of Marlborough, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Marlborough, Richard, affectionately known to many as “Dick” or “Ricky,” was the son of the late Gene and Margaret (Tori) Insani. A lifelong resident of Marlborough for much of his life, Richard graduated from Hudson Catholic High School before attending Northeastern University through the ROTC program, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance. He also proudly served his country in the National Guard.
Richard was a lifelong entrepreneur whose strong work ethic and ambition led him through many successful business ventures throughout his career. He served as Regional Manager for Mercedes Benz, Vice President of Flagship Bank. He was appointed Assistant Treasurer and Manager of Commerce Bank & Trust and was also a Notary Public. Richard was best known for owning and operating Insani Paving Inc. for more than 30 years. He also owned and operated Torrey Industries, Inc. in Marlborough and Torwel Industries in Hudson, both manufacturers of salt and sand spreaders.
Deeply committed to his community, Richard was a proud and dedicated member of the Lions Clubs International for over 30 years and served as the Secretary of the Shrewsbury Lions Club. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy. He valued the friendships and community connections he made throughout his many years of service.
Richard had a lifelong passion for heavy construction and military equipment and was an avid collector of both. In his quieter years, he enjoyed relaxing with his longtime partner Mary while watching Jeopardy and Antiques Roadshow, as well as taking memorable road trips together and spending time on Cape Cod and Maine.
Richard is survived by his loving life partner, Mary Dumas of West Yarmouth, MA, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gene and Margaret Insani, and by his sister, Linda Jengo.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Richard’s life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Matthias Parish, 409 Hemenway Street, Marlborough, MA. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery on Beach Street in Marlborough.
