Joseph "Joe" J. Roy

Joseph “Joey”,” Joe” J. Roy, 43 of Marlboro, died on Saturday, January 9, 2021 after a long battle with addiction.

Joe was born on February 3, 1977 in Framingham, the son of Lawrence “Larry” and Mary (Stotz) Roy.  While growing up, Joe attended Kane Elementary School, Marlboro Middle School and Marlboro High School.  During his school age years, Joe utilized his never-ending supply of energy to participate in various sports, such as soccer, baseball, hockey, and football.

Joe had a great sense of humor and he thoroughly enjoyed making others laugh.  His siblings fondly recall watching many funny 80’s movies together and citing quotes from them afterwards.  Joe also had an incredible heart that he freely shared with those around him throughout the years.  He especially loved children and they were naturally drawn to him because of his playful nature. 

As an adult, Joe became part of the Cement Mason Union.  He enjoyed working as a cement finisher for several different companies and he was well-loved by many of his employers.

Joe is survived by his beloved son, Jacob “Jake” Roy; his parents Larry and Mary Roy of Marlboro; his brother, Robert “Bob” Roy and his wife Karin Whitten of Shrewsbury; his sister, Cathleen “Cathy” (Roy) Ferrante and her husband Alessandro of Raynham as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joe’s family wants to express their gratitude to all of his extended family, which is made up of the MHS Class of ’95 and the Cement Mason Union, among many others.  We are so thankful for all the eternal love, encouragement and support you have given to Joe over the past years.  We know that, like us, you tried to help him live the healthy life that he deserved but was unable to maintain.

A Graveside Service will be held on Joe’s birthday, Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlboro, MA. Masks and social distancing are required.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joe’s name to The Recovery Connection, 31 Main Street, Marlboro, MA 01752.
