Honorable Judge Brian Rowe Obituary

Honorable Judge Brian Rowe, 84 of Falmouth, died at home peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 after a lengthy illness.

Judge Rowe was born in Gardner, MA, the son of the late Judge C. Edward and Von Dy (Satrowsky) Rowe.

Brian graduated from Deerfield Academy in 1953, University of Virginia 1957, and Suffolk Law School.

He served in the United States Army as a 1st LT with an honorable discharge in 1965.

Before joining the Rowe Family Law Firm, he worked in the District Attorneys office in Boston

In 1981 Governor Edward King swore Brian in as Justice of Martha’s Vineyard District Court and served on the bench for 25 years.

Brian was All American University of Virginia Lacrosse Team goalie for 2 years

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, Brian hunted and fished from Alaska to Africa

His lobster boat “SKID ROWE” provided many delicious lobster feasts for friends and family

As a member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, he enjoyed trips on his custom chopper. After retirement his Harley was a great way to escape to the north to visit friends.

As a youth Brian completed the 50 mile Green Mountain Horse Endurance competition held in Woodstock, Vermont. Brian grew up with horses on the family farm “West Hill” in Athol, MA.

Brian was a member of numerous clubs and associations including; The Massachusetts Bar Association,

 Massachusetts Judges Association, Dewitt Clinton Masonic Order, Weary Travelers, The Elks, The VFW,

 American Veterans Post, Eagles Nest, Wheel House, Falmouth Rod & Gun Club. Falmouth Skeet Club,

Maine Guide Association Master Guide, United States Coast Guard Captain License and the Mystic Marlin Tuna.

He was predeceased by his daughter Dana Rowe who died in 1979.

Judge Rowe is survived by his wife of 37 years, Roberta (Sidman) Rowe of Falmouth; his son Christopher Rowe and his wife Heather ; his daughter Deane Rowe Cole , 5 step children; Scott Anderson & his wife Susie, Mitchell Anderson and his wife Kathleen, Heidi Haley and her husband Jeff , Ingrid White and her husband William , and Gretchen Foster and her husband Alex ; 17 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Atty. Ted Rowe and his wife Betsy, Atty Doug Rowe and his wife Barbara ; a sister, Atty Janet Rowe Dugan, and many nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, a private Graveside service will be held in St. Mary Cemetery, Marlborough, MA .  The Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 West Main Street, Marlborough, MA is in care of the arrangements.
