It is with great sadness we announce that David Prewitt of Marlborough, Massachusetts passed away on April 11th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah, their two sons Michael and Kevin Prewitt, and their wives, Michelle and Mikayla. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Strike, of Indian Hill, Ohio, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
David was born in Covington, Kentucky in 1953 to the late Hartwell R. and Gertrude (Lemons) Prewitt. The youngest of five, he was a loving brother to his four older siblings. He admired them as much as he was a role model to them. Growing up around horses was where he first discovered his love of farms, animals, and the outdoors. He spent many summer days playing basketball, riding his bike, and admiring the horses that his family kept. He graduated with a degree in Biology from Northern Kentucky State University.
He moved to Massachusetts, where he met the love of his life, Deborah. They married in 1990, and later welcomed two sons. Dave’s wife and children were his greatest joy. Asking Dave to talk about his family would result in the widest smile and an infectious laugh, as he proudly told winding tales about his adventures with them. He was an incredibly vibrant, loving, and generous person, and made everyone he interacted with feel welcome.
In his free time, he shared a passion for cooking, gardening, and hosting with his wife. He was an avid reader, and also loved spending time restoring antique furniture that would have otherwise been forgotten. He coached his boys in several youth sports and loved any opportunity to spend time with them. He adored traveling with his family and friends, from scouting the hills of Tuscany for truffles, to feeling the sea breeze on the coastal North Shore, to perusing small bakeries in Paris. He found joy in the smallest things around him and made the most of every second. He would describe himself as truly blessed and would want those who loved him to honor his memory by continuing to approach life with kindness, generosity, and a hearty laugh. He was an adored husband, father, brother, and friend, and will be dearly missed.
