Bernice G (Galvin) Yerra

Bernice Geraldine Galvin Yerra, “Nana”, passed away on September 17, 2021 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 88. A resident of Marlborough, MA for 55 years, Bernice was born in Dorchester, MA on December 15, 1932 to parents Pearl Zetter Galvin and John Galvin. With a flair for fashion and design, she worked as a salesperson for high-fashion women’s clothing at Beale Brothers in downtown Boston. She also enjoyed a position as a switchboard operator for Microwave Associates.

Bernice was an avid Mahjong player who enjoyed weekly games with a close circle of friends and even taught the game at a senior center. She volunteered to give rides to cancer patients to their appointments and, for many years, hosted international students in her home.

Bernice was predeceased by her husband Edward Yerra and her sisters Marie McGee, Jeanne McLaren, and Jacqueline Avakian. She is survived by her sister Helen Blood of Louden, TN; her children Deborah Moscillo Montgomery, Doreen Moscillo Howes, and James Moscillo; her eight grandchildren Jean Paul Montgomery, Stephen Montgomery, Chandra Wroblewski, Justine Martinelli, Michael Montgomery, Vanessa Gilchrest, Lauren Montgomery, Gianna Moscillo, Gabrielle Moscillo, and Serena Howes; her six great-grandchildren; and those she kept close to her heart — Zoi Kefala, Sophia Kefala, Alexandra Chabotte, and Niko Chabotte. Nana’s unconditional love and generous nature touched so many others in her life.

The family will be honoring Bernice with a private celebration of life.
