Barbara (Kane) Ricci

     Barbara H. (Kane) Ricci, 84, died Thursday, November 12, 2020 after a period of failing health. She
was the wife of 44 years of the late Francis J. Ricci, who died in 2001. She was born in Marlborough, the
daughter of the late Bernard J. and Marion E. (Miller) Kane and lived there for the majority of her life.
     She is survived by two daughters; Jennifer Ricci of Providence, RI and Susan Howe of Dudley, MA, her
son in law, Robert Howe, three grandchildren; Alexander, Emma and Nathan, her sister Marilyn King of
Marlborough, her sister in law Lois Kane of Tiverton RI and many nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by her brother Bernard J. Kane.
      She was a graduate of Marlborough High School, class of 1954. She was a homemaker and a
wonderful mother and grandmother. She held various local jobs over the years, including a long term
position at Digital (DEC) and later as a receptionist for Dr. O’Brien, DDM.
     She was an animal lover; in particular cats and crows, and it was known in the neighborhood that her
house was where you would bring any injured or stray animals to. She and her dearest friend, the late
Marjorie Castelli, were avid figure skating groupies and were known to travel the country to watch
skating competitions and, much to the horror of their families, started taking skating lessons rather late
in life. She had a fondness for the Royal family and all things English. She loved her neighborhood at
Shawmut Avenue and White Terrace and considered her neighbors to not only be friends but more like
extended family. She will forever be in our hearts and memories.
     A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday July 29, 2021 at 12:00 Noon in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home (www.shortandrowefuneralhome.com), 95 West Main St. Marlborough.  Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m - 11:45 a.m. prior to the service.
