Sterling, MA – Alan D. Wessell entered God’s Kingdom on Friday, February 13, 2026.
Alan was born in Waltham on February 4, 1959, to John and Alice Wessell. He graduated from Assabet Valley Vocational School in 1978 and went on to have a long and distinguished career of more than 40 years at Raytheon, where he remained until his retirement in 2021.
Loyalty, integrity, and family defined his life. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and a loyal friend to many. He married his high school sweetheart, Lisa (Cameron), in 1982. Over 43 years of marriage, they built a beautiful life together and raised their two children, Sean and Shannon. He especially cherished the time he spent with his grandsons, Jackson and Jameson, and his great-granddaughter, Evelyn. He also adored his many nieces and nephews as if they were his own.
Alan was an avid Patriots fan and loved the outdoors. Camping with his family, hunting, and fishing brought him great joy.
Alan was a gracious and generous man with incredible strength and resilience. After a long battle with kidney disease, his family remains forever grateful for the gift of life from a dear friend, Judi Poe, whose kidney donation gave him ten more years of precious time.
Alan was predeceased by his parents, John and Alice Wessell, and his older brother, Robert Wessell and brother-in-law, Timothy Cameron.
Alan leaves behind his devoted wife, Lisa (Cameron) Wessell of Sterling; his son, Sean Wessell and his wife, Megean of Rutland; his daughter, Shannon Wessell and her partner, Aaron LaBranche, of Sterling; his sisters, Laurie Iannuzzo and her companion, David Smith, of Manchester, NH, and Brenda Smith of NH; his sisters-in-law, Lauren Cameron, Lynne (Pat) Drzik, and Sandra McFarland; his brothers-in-law, Daniel (Patty) Cameron, Bruce (Christine) Cameron, Neil (Kathryn) Cameron, and Glen (Jeni) Cameron; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home in Marlborough, with visitation from 9:00–10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:30. Burial will follow immediately afterward in Evergreen Cemetery in Marlborough.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the PKD Foundation to help find a cure for polycystic kidney disease.
